Helloooooo cyber world! I've stepped into the blogging realm again after 9 months of absence with my latest adventure: embarking on my trip to South Africa.
The journey began with an almost-cancelled flight in Atlanta due to the extremely cold weather conditions. As you can see from the board, so many flights were cancelled and hotels were completely full. I was so thankful my flight was able to leave that night (and my sweet flight attendant aunt could come to the airport to hang out with me).
In Johannesburg, Claire and her Dad picked me up and I stayed with their amazing family for the night and the next morning. Meeting Claire and resting with them definitely helped settle any nerves and helped me adjust. Mr. Gruver and Claire drove me to Door of Hope the next day, where I will be staying until the end of May. Here are some photos of my journey.
(made it safely down the longest escalator I've ever seen. whewwww.)
(lovely little kitchen. flowers given to me by Claire! they make the room so beautiful)
(these coke bottles have common names on them for a personalized feel. didn't find Rachel, that's for sure.)
